Life is Choices
But…
By Lee Foulis

Let me tell you the story of a donkey. This donkey was very hungry and thirsty. To add to this tale, he was not tethered but free to go wherever he wanted. Now this donkey had a trough of water 50 metres to his left and a bucket of carrots 50 metres to his right. This caused great confusion for our donkey. When he moved toward the water, he stopped in his tracks as he was leaving the food and, after all, he was hungry. If he moved towards the food, he also stopped dead as he was leaving the water and he was very thirsty. So, he stood where he was and eventually died of hunger and thirst.
This poor, indecisive donkey represents so many people. You want to get fit but cannot exercise consistently. You want to start studying, dieting, or end a relationship, but you have an excuse for not doing it. Thus, you remain stuck. You remain where you are, in your uncomfortable comfort zone. Indecision and inaction are slowly killing you.
May I suggest, Gentle Reader, that you park the excuses and, today and every day from now on, take one small step in the direction of your desires, goals and ambitions.
It is not too late. It is never too late to start living your life. Stop being a spectator to life and step onto the playing field.
It is only when we make that decision and take action that life can change, and you can live life as opposed to treading water. The choice, as always, is yours. If you do not, you will die like that poor donkey. You will die with all the possibilities available to you, but your indecision and apathy will prevent you from living a full life.
“So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Life is Choices.
Life is Choices. Choose with intention. Live with purpose.
